Q: Where are your tiles from?

They’re made in Japan in small-scale factories led by ceramicists who still honour traditional methods. No shortcuts, no overproduction. Just a lot of fire and soul.

Q: Can I see the tiles in person in London?

Yes, you can book a private appointment and we’ll bring our collection to you. It’s a relaxed way to explore the range in your space, on your terms. Not in London? You can still order samples online with just a few clicks.

Q: Do you ship to the USA and Europe?

We do. Whether you’re based in New York or Naples, we’ve got logistics that reach across continents. Just don’t ask us to hand-deliver them on a bicycle.

Q: Are your tiles sustainable?

Yes. Our tiles are made in small batches using traditional techniques that minimise waste and energy. Many are made using up to 60% recycled materials. It’s all about honest ingredients, slow methods, and a long, dignified life on your wall.

Q: What are your tiles made of?

Our tiles begin with Japanese clay — sometimes a mix of up to 14 different types from the Tajimi region, each bringing its own character. Some blends include crushed reclaimed tile or other recycled materials. They’re fired at high temperatures and finished with care. Built to last, and made to be admired for years to come.

Q: Do you have stock in the UK or Europe?

We keep a curated selection in London and offer made-to-order options for larger projects. Everything else comes in from Japan - just in time to impress.

Q: Can your tiles be used in bathrooms and kitchens?

Yes! Our tiles are ideal for bathrooms and kitchens — both walls and floors. Splash-resistant, humidity-approved, and made to handle moisture with ease. Perfect for any space that needs style and durability. (Driveway? Maybe not, but your floors and walls are covered.)

Q: How do I know which tile is right for my project?

Drop us a message. Whether you’re designing a restaurant, a hallway, or a dream kitchen, we’ll help you choose something that feels like a good idea - because it is.

Q: Do you work with trade professionals?

Yes! Architects, designers, developers - we see you. Trade pricing, samples, specs, good chat: it's all part of the package.

Q: Can you help with custom projects?

Yes. We love a challenge. If you’ve got a vision, we’ve got a kiln [well, our Japanese partners do]. Let's co-create something that doesn’t exist yet.

Q: Where are you based?

Our studios are in London and Dubai, but our roots span from Norway to England, via Japan. A cross-cultural tile journey, with good taste as the compass.

Q: How do I order samples?

Easy. Head to our website, choose your favourites, and they’ll be on their way with a few clicks. They’ll arrive safely wrapped, like tiny ceramic gifts.

Q: Are your tiles mass-produced?

Never. Each tile is handmade in small batches — no two are identical. They're a bit like people: unique, and occasionally unpredictable [in the best way]..

Q: What makes Makani tiles different?

We blend tradition, artistry, and intentional design. These are tiles with soul, crafted slowly, respectfully, and beautifully. Our tiles don’t follow trends - they tell stories you can touch. And because they’re made with recycled materials and minimal waste, they’re as responsible as they are beautiful.

Still curious?
